Francis Newton Souza's painting "Portrait of a Man" from 1956 is one of the international top lots. During his career Souza experimented with different styles and expressions but it is his figurative painting with sharp black lines executed in London during the 1950s and 60s that are most appreciated. Works in the classical international section include Peter Ilsted and Konstantin Fedorovic Yuon and within the older international art we find Johan Laurentz Jensen and Jacob Philipp Hackert. Within photography and prints, we also see "Leonardo da Vinci, The annunciation" by Andy Warhol and the photograph "Faye Dunaway, Hollywood 1977" by Terry O'Neill.
Within furniture and works of arts we find masterpieces such as a magnificent rococo silvered and git-brass chandelier by Carl Edberg circa 1755, a magnificent pair of Gustavian marquetry encoignures by Gottlieb Iwersson with provenance from Torup Castle, a corner and a writing cabinet attributed to Johan Bäckström, as well as Queen Hedvig Eleonora's desk from Ulriksdal, by royal cabinetmaker Hindrich von Hachten 1691. Other objects include an early rococo commode of royal model and a collection of porphyry and marble. An extensive carpet section offers an antique West Anatolian "Lotto" from the 17th century, a semi-antique Isfahan and a "Game park" tapestry from the middle of the 16th century.
The Jewellery department includes rare items such as a silver and gold tiara with antique and rose-cut diamonds and a platinum necklace with heart-shaped brilliant-cut diamonds from Harry Winston. The auction also offers a large collection of objects from the imperial court jeweler W.A. Bolin, with provenance from generati0ns within the Bolin family. Since its inception in 1791, Bolin has been court jeweler for no less than six Russian tsars and tsarevnas and has been Swedish court jeweler since 1916.
Highlights within the silver and Objects of Vertu department includes a coffee pot by Henrik Christoffer Klint from 1770 and an exquisite range of objects from late 18th century candlesticks by Pehr Zethelius to baroque tankards and a Baltic rokoko tureen. Another highlight is an imperial presentation jewelled gold and enamel box by Alexander Treiden for Hahn from 1899.
Bukowskis' Asian department presents objects from several prestigious Scandinavian collectors such as Dr. Carl Kempes, Axel Lagrelius, Dag Malms, Klas E Bööks and Paul R. Wedendals. Highlights include a rare altar table in zitan, made during the Qing dynasty for the imperial court. From Carl Kempe's collection we find a magnificent vase in gold, which dates to the 12th/14th century, from the same collection we also find a spectacular gilded bronze tiger which is dated to the Six Dynasties (220 AD-589 AD). The department also offers imperial porcelain as well as furniture made in the sought-after material huanguhuali.
