From the Collection of Åke Wiberg (1902-1963). After getting his law degree he also aquired and successfully developed several business. He was engaged politically and made important contributions to the department of defence during the war. He had a passion for the curtural life and became the director of the board of the Opera, Director of Statens Konstråd and a member of Nordiska Museets Nämnd.
After being appointed by King Gustav VI Adolf to oversee the rebuilding and reorganization of the old Royal recreational health and spa resort Loka, Åke Wiberg became Överintendent at the Royal Court.
Åke Wiberg is well known for his philanthropic work. In 1954 he made the donation that is the foundation of Åke Wibergs Stiftelse, that today handles over 400 Mkr that supports medical research.
In the 1950’s Åke Wiberg received the honours of becoming both filosofie and medicine honorary doctor and was when he passed away the director of the Bord of the East Asian Museum in Stochkholm.
