Nanteuil, Gilbert after Zichy, Timm, Sorieul, Teichel, Blanchard + multi-folding tinted panorama of Moscow [paper size 25,6 by 234,5 cm], by Muller. 32 mostly half-page and full-page illustrations on papier Japon by Monighetti and others, mounted in the text, of which 28 are woodcuts, 2 chromolithographs (of which one half-page depicting the Uspenski cathedral and an adjacent palace), one lithograph, and one steel-engraving. Original full morocco gilt with Romanov arms & imperial cipher on upper cover, all edges gilt.

Professionally rebacked preserving original gilt spine. Corners of boards neatly renewed. Light foxing to end leaves. Some insignificant foxing throughout. One or two leaves with very short marginal tears (circa 1-2 cm). Occasional professional strengthening to inner margin. Folding panorama of Moscow with two diagonal creases to leftmost section, and a short tear (circa 1 cm) to lower margin. Page 83 next to the name of Comte von Essen marked with red crayon. An attractive copy with a distinguished provenance.
