Bukowskis Modern Art + Design presents several works by internationally significant artists such as Piet Mondrian, Fernand Léger, Amédée Ozenfant, Serge Poliakoff, Henri Laurens and Swedish pioneering works by Isaac Grünewald, Olle Baertling, Waldemar Lorentzon, Sigrid Hjertén and Nils von Dardel. Unique to this spring's rich design department is a historical collection of furniture from Alva & Gunnar Myrdal's private home, which includes a very unusual and sought-after dresser by Axel Einar Hjorth, exhibited at the iconic 1929 International Barcelona Exposition. Bukowskis can also present another iconic cabinet by Josef Frank, 'Plan de Paris à vol d'oiseau', which last year was sold in a similar version at a record price of SEK 3.2 million, also the most expensive Josef Frank furniture ever sold at auction.

Among the highlights of the art department, we would like to pay special attention to a newly discovered work by Mondrian, "Barn Doors in Brabant", a hitherto unknown watercolour that has never been for sale before. Isaac Grünewald is represented with several works, the magnificent painting "Kungsträdgården, i solglass", the most significant, followed by further highlights such as "Nature Morter" by Ozenfant and "Fiskaren" by Lorentzon.

The elegant tabouret by Axel Einar Hjorth was also exhibited at the 1929 International Barcelona Exposition. See also internationally sought-after objects from our leading 20th-century designers such as Estrid Ericson, Uno Åhrén, Finn Juhl, Carl Axel-Acking, and masterful ceramics from Picasso Axel Salto, and Wilhelm Kåge as well as glass from Simon Gate. The textile artists Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Barbro Nilsson and Sigvard Bernadotte are represented with beautiful carpets and textiles.
