Fourth Edition of this rare traveller's guide to the Bay of Naples region. The town of Pozzuoli is located 5 miles to the SW of Naples. Pozzuoli began as a Greek colony and was later settled by the Romans in 194 BC. Its name derives from the sulfur smell issuing from the volcanic caldera, the Campi Flegrei. Sarnelli's guide also covers the towns and ancient Roman sites around Cumae, Miseno, Bacoli, and Gaeta.

Pompeo Sarnelli (1649-1724), an Italian writer and bishop of Bisceglie, wrote popular guide books for the Naples region that went through numerous editions. They were written expressly for foreigners visiting the Naples area on the Grand Tour.

Slitage, fläckar, smärre hörnskador på bokbandet, ej fullständigt genomgången.
