Leif Olof Holmstrand is a Swedish writer and artist and currently lives in Malmö. He debuted in 2002 as a poet and has, among other things, previously been active under the pseudonym Anna-Maria Ytterbom.
Leif Holmstrand studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Malmö, graduating in 2002, the same year he debuted with the poetry collection Stekelgång.
He was named "Best of the year" in the Art category in 2006 by the magazine Nöjesguiden, with the justification "Leif Holmstrand runs his race hard with crocheted and knitted sculptures, terrifying performances, washing line installations and dangling prams. He also writes excellent poetry. An artist and writer who puts Malmö on the map of Sweden - soon also on the world map."
Holmstrand published three poetry collections under the pseudonym Anna-Maria Ytterbom at OEI editor, before revealing his true identity in June 2009.
A notable show was Swedish acquisitions: Matches at Moderna Museet in Stockholm in 2022. Other notable shows were at Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice and Den frie udstilling in Copenhagen.
