Övrig information

In these lithographs, Feldman’s gray sign system serves to document. She pivots the color’s neutrality against exuberant marks, asserting her belief in the aesthetic gesture and its transformative power. The artist challenges our notion of reality in Loose Truth No. 3 and No. 5. In these impressions, a photo-lithographic printing technique effectively asserts the materiality of the printed paper. Both works are categorically flat yet the illusion persists, as the paper appears to be wrinkled and textured. Feldman momentarily destabilizes the viewer’s perception; with humor that equivocates ‘loose truths’ and ‘truth’; for nothing is, in fact, what it seems.

Amy Feldman (b.1981) received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and her Master of Fine Arts from Rutgers University.
