Michael Mahnke (b. 1966) is a visual artist, educated at Hunter College, NYC and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. His work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in New York City, Stockholm, and Japan. He has been the recipient of Vermont Studio Center fellowship as well as the National Arts Club Award in New York City.
He lives in Johnson, Vermont, where he and his family own and run The Studio Store/Art Materials. Mahnke also serves as the Executive Director of the Wolf Kahn & Emily Mason Foundation.
Michael Mahnke has been in the art world professionally since moving to NYC in 1993. His experience ranges from working as an artist assistant to managing artists estates. Currently, he is an art advisor for Seldom Scene Interiors, as well as owner of the Studio Store/art supplies in Johnson, Vt. Teaching Beginning Painting at NVU has been a gift in understanding the foundations of learning and how communication moves through visual means. Being present to witness students expanding their preconceived notions of art and the intimate language that develops along the way, is especially important to him.
