Leipzig, [1802-1820]. 30 x 25,5 cms. 92 pp. of text + 30 (of 60) hand-coloured etched plates.
Contemporary boards, spine renewed and lower cover crudely restored. Bookplate: ”Säfstaholms bibliothek”, ownership inscription (Bonde). Foxing, slight browning and occasional very light staining, waterstain to upper inner corner of final 2 ff. of text and faintly visible on some other text leaves as well.
Rössig's book on roses, one of the earliest works on the subject, was issued in twelve parts, and the plates by Luisa von Wagenheim were so fully coloured so that the printed lines are often not visible. Seldom found complete with all 60 plates, only 30 are present here.
