With a scene known as 'Governor Duff and his Wife', showing the couple strolling in a fenced Chinese garden, their small hound at their side, contained within an elaborate border of underglaze blue lappets issuing floral sprigs and alternating with gilt and iron-red still-lifes of antiques and auspicious objects.
Some also claims that the scene depicts Louis XIV and one of his mistresses.
Governor Duff is referring to the Dutch Governor-General Diederik Durven who held office from 1729-32. The scene is likely based on a print or a drawing.
