Toyine Sellers skriver: On the flight to Odessa, I was approached by Vandra Rugs to participate in their “Recycled Rugs for Charity Project”. Upon landing I was met with another surprise, the sad news that my sister-in-law had passed away after an extended battle with breast cancer. I therefore decided, that she would be my inspiration for the Art Rug I was about to create. She was an amazing English lady.
My rug would depict the spring, when all is reborn and blossoms bloom.
My blossom, a beautiful wild English rose.
Sellers egen presentation: Born in South Africa Toyine Sellers started travelling at an early age. This nomadic life style left an imprint, visible in her love for color & texture. Studies at the Parsons School of Design where she graduated in 1991, Toyine worked internationally with interior design firms specializing in high-end residential and commercial projects. Setting up her own firm in 1999 in South Africa, Toyine’s first solo project was on the cover of House and Garden Magazine in 2000. Later, she returned to New York as Head of Commercial Interiors for Peter Marino Architects. While working on the design of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Dior she discovered her passion. Besides handling massive projects from inception to installation, she specialized in and loved developing never before seen materials for these brands with ateliers of know-how around the world. On leaving Peter Marino in 2006, she continued designing furniture and developing materials for Gucci and Burberry prior to becoming Design Director for a Belgian woven leather atelier. In 2010, Toyine established TOYINE SELLERS “Ateliers of Texture and Design”, designing under her own label.
