Bukowski is proud to present the Löwenadler Collection. The collection consists of fantastic art and decor from the home one of Sweden's most renowned art dealers, Jan Eric Löwenadler. Throughout his life, Jan Eric Löwenadler continuously expanded and diversified his collection, drawing inspiration from past decades and countries all over the world. Each item in turn has a rich history in itself, accompanying Jan Eric Löwenadler as he moved from country to country, living in homes that deeply reflected his great passion for interior design. This collection is an homage to the big artist names Jan Eric came across in his lifetime, as well as to the grand tastes of times gone by.
Jan Eric Löwenadler lived as he learned. He considered a collector to be a combination of an art historian, stockbroker and decorator. His friends describe him as incredibly knowledgeable, a lover of beauty and an incurable truth-seeker, as well as a conversationalist of his like. Jan Eric was for some time one of the world's most successful art dealers - well-known for his impeccable taste and bright personality.
Important works in the collection are Keith Haring's Untitled I-III, acquired directly from the artist with an estimate of 600.000 – 800.000 SEK, along with Francesco Clemente's ’Two Girls’, with an estimate of 400.000 – 500.000 SEK. Moreover, the well-known self-portrait of Cecilia Edefalk, ’Self-portrait with a gun’ with an estimate of SEK 300'000, is also included in the collection. One of the more personal and interesting lot numbers is Jan Eric's significant and extensive reference library of art literature, which will be sold as one lot with an estimate of 250.000 – 300.000 SEK.
Jan Eric's interior interest and taste for beautiful things is reflected in the department for works of art. In his home, he mixed old furniture of fine quality with glass and metal elements from the 1980’s. Excellent examples are a desk, a so-called Bureau Plat with an estimate of SEK 450.000 – 500.000 SEK, a magnificent Baroque mirror with an estimate of SEK 200.000 SEK, and his specially ordered dining table and sideboard from Grant Larkin from the 1980’s, collectively estimated at 150.000 SEK.
”We are very proud of the confidence bestowed upon us to present and sell this unique home and collection”, says Björn Extergren, Head of Consignment & Sales Department, Fine art. ”Learning to know a person's unique collecting through a lifetime is always captivating.”
