The building was commissioned by the "Match King" Ivar Kreuger (1880–1932) as the headquarters of the Swedish match company Svenska Tändsticks AB. It was designed by architect Ivar Tengbom (1878-1968) and built from 1926 to 1928.
The present fixture hung in the lunchrooms of Tändstickspalatset.
