"Supernova-Interior Collapse II"

Stockholm-based Gunilla Klingberg (born in 1966) has scrutinised commercial visual idioms since the early 2000s, and especially the element of repetition. In some works she approaches Indian mysticism, creating intricate Oriental patterns out of familiar logos. This remarkable sculpture, Supernova-Interior Collapse, has a similar origin; here, upholstery elements, fabrics and panels are assembled as though by some cosmic phenomenon into a crystal formation that has landed on earth as a mutated product of our consumerism and neurotic interior decorating.
