Dorit Margreiter lives and works in Vienna. In her paper works with pieces of tape, zentrum y, she alludes to a specific era in architecture in Leipzig, a socialist experiment in the 1960s, with a unique aesthetic style, in an example of how the modernist idiom can be harnessed in the service of socialism and politics. This era died long ago, and the derelict buildings are rapidly being replaced by new ones. Dorit Margreiter is also a lecturer, curator and graphic designer. She exhibits prolifically all over Europe and was awarded the prestigious Otto Mauer prize.
