It was a great start to the auction season! So lovely to see the great interest from our customers in this eclectic auction, where we celebrate the Swedish cultural heritage. There was already a great international interest before the sale, and the viewing was well attended. The auction included a wide variety of objects, of which several items exceeded the estimate, such as the beautiful illustration by Ilon Wikland for Astrid Lindgren’s beloved book ”Sunnanäng”. The Contemporary art department offered intense bidding, such as Eva Löfdahl's artwork, ”Model F”, in which the final price ended up several times above estimate, says Lena Rydén, Head of Art, Specialist Modern Art.

We are pleased to see that the introduction of the new category of pop culture collectibles turned out so well and attracted many new bidders in Sweden and internationally. As a passionate music lover, working with this type of design objects and memorabilia with significant provenances and history is extra fun. The signed Beatles poster was the first significant concert poster printed for the band before their breakthrough and signed by all the Beatles. Another object in the auction that received attention was the original drum set used during Abbas’ European and Australian tours and Hagström’s iconic electric guitar, ”DeLuxe Large Model”, from the first series in 1958, which was produced in only 200 copies.
