Several masterpieces sold for sensational final prices during this Spring's largest Fine Art auction, Important Spring Sale. Helene Schjerfbeck's adorable watercolour "Girl with a blue ribbon" was the big surprise of the evening when, after intense bidding, the work reached a final price of SEK 17,137,500, a new world record for a watercolour by the artist.

– Bukowskis once again shows strength by selling the most prominent masterpieces at the highest final prices. The watercolour, "The girl with the blue ribbon", was a personal favourite in this Spring's auction, also much appreciated by collectors worldwide, says Andreas Rydén, Head Specialist, Art, Deputy Managing Director.

Bukowskis also presented significant masterpieces by Carl Fredrik Hill, Anders Zorn, Bruno Liljefors, Olof-Sager Nelson, along with iconic sculptures by Carl Milles such as St. Paul on the road to Damascus, The Skating Princess and Poseidon to name a few.

– Tonight's results prove that the market is strong for classic sculptures from masters such as Carl Milles, Gudmar Olovson and Jussi Mäntynen, with high final prices for marble sculptures as well as bronze. Among the older masters, Braunschweiger Monogrammist's "Bordellszene mit Prügelei zwischen zwei Dirnen mit Blasebalg” and Jan Davidsz de Heem's still life with nautilus snail, grapes, lemon and pomegranate both ended at high final prices as well as a success for the "The Nursing Madonna" by Joos van Cleve, says Lisa Gartz, Specialist sculpture and older painting.

The auction also offered an excellent international department of old masters with everything from beautiful still lifes, landscapes and exciting allegories to portraits, sought-after by both the Swedish and international collectors.
