Bukowskis Important Spring Sale

Following a successful auction season, we have now reached the Important Spring Sale on view from 29th of May. Bukowskis is pleased to present a magnificent collection of paintings, sculptures and prints by international old masters such as Alexander Roslin and David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl as well as modern and contemporary admired artists such as Einar Jolin, Yves Klein and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Please also see Bukowskis’ limited catalogue “Carl Larsson 100 years” - a tribute to one of Sweden’s most skilled and beloved artists.

A highlight from the selection of classical Swedish painting, is the Anders Zorn masterpiece “En Eva”. A piece that boasts a quaint diversity that few artists have mastered. The selection further includes a Carl Larsson’s aquarelle ”Sommar i Sundborn/Flicka i trädgård”. A beautiful image of a young Swedish summer, a time that also marks the last auction of the season. Notably, the latter piece is part of a larger collection of eight Carl Larsson pieces, ranging from early oil painting to several aquarelles and a truly exquisite pastel, all proudly presented by Bukowskis.

Adding to it all, the auction includes two considerable pieces by Helene Schjerfbeck, Bruno Liljefors’ exceptional depiction of Swedish wildlife, plein air painting by Albert Edelfelt, Julia Beck’s gentle French river scenery, along with Carl Fredrik Hill’s skilful painting ”Landscape from Bois-le-roi”. Also, discover sculptures by sought after masters such as Carl Milles, Johann Heinrich von Dannecker and Pierre Bonnard.

Included in the furniture department are top lots like a Gustavian commode by Gottlieb Iwersson from the late 18th century, estimate 500 000 – 700 000 SEK. The commode is of French design, which was introduced by Georg Haupt in Sweden in 1770. Haupt is indeed himself represented in this spring’s auction with craftworks such as a Gustavian encoignure and a table in world-class.

The extensive selection of Asian artworks on offer includes fantastic pieces acquired from well-known Swedish collections, like those of director Erik Holmberg’s, whose collection treasures several imperial pieces. The carpet department presents numerous impressive tapestries, Oriental carpets and dynamic Swedish folk textiles.

The department for jewellery holds a range of pendant jewellery from the exclusive house of Fabergé and Paloma Picasso for Tiffany’s. You will also find a pair of eye-catching brooches from gold, aquamarine and diamond likewise from Fabergé. The delicate art deco brooch and hair ornaments from Cartier feature a dozen old cut diamonds, today more sought after than ever.
