The Swedish sculptor Anders Sandström was primarily known for his depictions of animals. Sandström was not only a sculptor but also a writer and a former diplomat. As an official for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, he had an international career. He undertook various nature expeditions and studied, at times living with different indigenous peoples. Sandström has exhibited at state and private cultural institutions in, among others, the USA, Argentina, Tunisia, Cuba, and Ecuador. He has had several solo exhibitions at cultural institutions in Sweden, including at Waldemarsudde and the Swedish Museum of Natural History. Public works include "The Aurochs" in Havana's UNESCO-protected cultural centre and the sculpture "Playing Sea Lions" in Örsundsbro, Enköping.
