The film was nominated for a total of six Academy Awards and won besides Sven Nykvist's price further three; Best Foreign Film, Best Costume to Marik Vos-Lundh and Best Production Design to Anna Asp and Susanne Lingheim. The other two nominations were for Best director and Best original screenplay.
