Daniel Knorr (born 1968 in Bucharest) is a contemporary artist based in Berlin and Hong Kong. His work explores socio-political, economic and historical themes through performance, installation, photography and sculpture. Knorr represented Romania at the 2005 Venice Biennale with an empty pavilion that questioned identity and representation. At Documenta 14 (2017), he created ‘Expiration Movement’, in which smoke rose from a museum tower, evoking the destruction of war. His work is included in several prominent collections and often aims to challenge the viewer's perceptions of public space and historical narratives.
