This winter's themed auction Josef Frank with Friends celebrates Svenskt Tenn's 100th anniversary and is once again filled with several of Josef Frank's popular design classics. Among the items, you'll find the cabinet, model 2135 (no. 1602800), designed by Frank around 1950. Behind the veneered doors are shelves, and the pull-out trays serve their original purpose – to conveniently mix drinks.
The combination of function and aesthetics was central to Svenskt Tenn's founder, Estrid Ericson's design philosophy, particularly in lighting, where multiple light sources were intended to create harmony in the room. In addition to furniture, the auction offers many of Svenskt Tenn's popular lamps designed by Josef Frank, as well as textiles and pewter items.
Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) began her successful collaboration with Josef Frank (1885–1967) in the 1930s. The first major exhibition of Frank’s pieces for Svenskt Tenn was held in 1934 at the Liljevalchs Art Gallery, where, among other things, the generous Liljevalchs sofa was shown for the first time. Josef Frank went on to create many classics that have enhanced both private homes and public institutions, and his furniture has become iconic elements of Swedish design history.
Welcome to explore and bid on these timeless design classics!
