Gerald Davis is an American artist, born in 1974 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He earned his BFA in painting and drawing from Pennsylvania State University in 1997 and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999. Davis was among the first Los Angeles artists to achieve international recognition in the mid-2000s. His dense, almost claustrophobic depictions of everyday scenes elicited strong reactions. His art serves as a visual diary exploring his ideas, memories, daydreams, and sexual fantasies, often with a sense of film noir. His recent exhibitions have taken place at Lundgren Gallery, Mallorca (2022, 2019, 2017, 2016), La Loma Projects, Los Angeles (2019), LTD Los Angeles, Los Angeles (2016), and Mallorca Landings, Mallorca (2012). Davis's works are also in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, San Diego; Larry Gagosian Collection, New York; and Saatchi Collection, London.
