Matthieu Ronsse is a Belgian artist born in 1981 in Kortrijk. He is known for his experimental art style, often adopting styles of old masters and manipulating them by combining various media such as collage, assemblage, and the transformation of found materials. Anti-perfectionist, Ronsse adopts tongue-in-cheek humor as he questions what it means to be a painter in the 21st century.
Ronsse has held solo exhibitions at Almine Rech in Brussels (2020, 2018, 2016) and VNH Gallery in Paris (2017). His recent group exhibitions include: Cultureel Centrum De Ververij PASS (2021), Roger Raveel Museum (2020), and Pamelekerk (2018). He has also participated in The Biennale Knokke Zoute (2009) and Prague Biennale 3 (2007).
