Clara Gesang-Gottowt, born in 1985, is a Swedish artist who lives and works in Lund. She graduated from the Royal Institute of Art in 2013. Her art revolves around ideas of human memories, exploring how emotional and sensory experiences are stored in the nervous system. She pays particular attention to the formalities of colour, analysing the effect of pigment and different techniques on the canvas.
She has recently held solo exhibitions at Galleri Cora Hillebrand, Gothenburg, 2023; CHART Art Fair with Galleri Cora Hillebrand, Copenhagen, 2023; Galleri Arnstedt, Östra Karup, 2023; and Galleri Thomas Wallner, Simris, 2023. She has also participated in group exhibitions at Werkhalle Wiesenburg, Berlin, 2023; Galleri CC, Malmö, 2022; Galleri Magnus Karlsson, Stockholm, 2022; Galleri Arnstedt, Östra Karup, 2021; and Spritmuseum, Stockholm, 2020.
Her art is included in public collections at Moderna Museet, Malmö Art Museum, Stockholm County Council, the National Public Art Council Sweden, Region Skåne, Region Kronoberg, Lund Municipality, Uppsala Municipality, among others. Right now she is part of the group exhibition “I follow the sun – Sunflowers in Art: 1889-2024” at Artipelag, Värmdö.
