Alex Da Corte, born in 1980 in Camden, New Jersey, is a Venezuelan American artist. He earned his BFA from the University of the Arts in 2004 and his MFA from Yale University School of Art in 2010. His art explores the nuances of contemporary life through his videos, installations, artworks, and sculptures. His exploration and the way he condenses the nuances of our contemporary moment has established him as a groundbreaking figure in the art world.
Institutional exhibition highlights include the retrospective Mr. Remember at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, Denmark (2022–23) and the video exhibition Fresh Hell at 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan (2023); Whitney Biennial Quiet as It’s Kept (2022); Roof Garden Commission for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2021); and Biennale di Venezia May You Live in Interesting Times, Venice (2019).
His art is included in public collections at The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, PA; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; Tank, Shanghai, China; The Long Museum, Shanghai, China; and Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden. In Sweden Da Corte is represented by Carl Kostyál.
