David Hurn, the Welsh photographer, established his name as a prominent photojournalist by reporting on the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. During the 1960s, he was a sought-after resource for Hollywood, creating marketing images for projects such as Barbarella, A Hard Day's Night, and James Bond: From Russia with Love. Hurn's impressive photographic collection includes portraits of iconic figures like The Beatles, Jane Fonda, and Sean Connery.
In 1967, he reached a significant milestone by becoming an associate member of the Magnum Photos agency. Hurn is considered one of the UK's most influential photojournalists and founded the School of Documentary Photography in Newport, Wales, in 1973. The auction's piece "Eppynt, Wales" showcases his connection to Wales, where he established the school and where he is now based and active in Tintern, Wales.
