CO Hultén - Imaginism, CoBrA and the postponed revolution F330

CO Hultén - Imaginism, CoBrA, and the postponed revolution.

As one of the central figures in the avant-garde group Imaginisterna, formed in 1945, CO Hultén had an evolving role in Swedish art history. In 1948 he also joined the CoBrA group, which included Asger Jorn, among others.

CO Hultén was also the initiator of two other pioneering projects: Image publisher, which he started as early as 1947, and the magazine Salamander, which appeared in three issues in 1955-56 and contained texts, poems, and images by Tomas Tranströmer, Marcel Duchamp, Roberto Matta, and André Breton, among others, as well as lithographic originals that show the initiators' unique international network of contacts. Parallel to Salamander, Hultén opened Galerie Colibri in Malmö in January 1955 - probably the city's first artist-run exhibition space.

Bukowskis has been entrusted to sell selected works from CO Hultén's estate from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Many of these works have never been shown before, so this is a unique opportunity to acquire a work of art by one of the most influential artists of post-war art in Sweden, who is also appreciated and recognised in an international context.
