In a wide range of media, US artist Eric Sidner deals with the unconscious relation to popular culture. He is interested in the way relationships and identities are affected by the passive absorption of visual information. Drawing from various sources and a wide range of images, the hybrid forms of Sidner’s sculptural works, in particular, are the result of material experimentation, seeking to prompt diverse responses that do not require subtext. His works often explore social and psychological dynamics and the delicate balance between the individual and the collective mind.
Eric Sidner is from Houston, USA, and currently lives in Berlin. He attended the California College of Arts in Oakland, California, where he received a BFA. Following this he was a guest student at the Städelschule, Frankfurt, and a resident at de Ateliers, Amsterdam. He has presented work at Fellbach Small Sculpture Triennial 2019, Fellbach, Germany, Kunstverein Nürnberg – Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft, Nürnberg, Germany and Goethe-Institut Ludlow 38, New York, amongst others.
