Stockholm & Uppsala, Werner, 1711. 8vo. (19,3 x 12 cms.) [14] + 224 + [16] + 836 + 528; + [2] + 410 pp. + engraved title by J. v. d. Aveelen + 3 unsigned engraved section titles. Title printed in red & black and with engraved vignette.

Contemporary calf over wooden boards, spine with raised bands and decorated in blind, covers gilt to a panel design with contrasting colours, clasps and fittings preserved, all edges gilt (with some slight gauffering at head and foot). Gilt device of Swedish book collector Thore Virgin (1886-1957) on front cover. Endleaves a little darkened as well as a few more leaves in the beginning and end, a marginal wormtrail to first few leaves, leaf P1 with a very small hole (loss of a couple of letters on each page), a few very short marginal tears.
Binding in very charming condition, despite small cracks to joints and some very slight scratching and superficial wear. Black stamp on title of "Finspongs Bibliothec" and ”JJdG” (Jean Jacques de Geer), see Carlander, 2, pp. 389 ff. Provenance: Thore Virgin, with inscription dated 1944, and sold at the second sale of his books, 1975 (no 450 in the catalogue, 3000 Sw. kr).
