Kehnet Nielsen was born in 1947 in Copenhagen and lives and works in Lyngby, Denmark.
His significant exhibitions include the Vestjylland Art Museum, the Brandts Klædefabrik Art Museum in Odense, the Pinacoteca do Estado in Sao Paulo, the Kunsthaus am Museum in Cologne, Charlottenborg in Copenhagen and Lunds Konsthall, Sweden. Among his artistic awards, he has been awarded the Eckersberg Medal by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
In the auction's painting, "Memoires no. 1", the spectator can probably see influences from German masters such as Gerhard Richter, Georg Baselitz and Anselm Kiefer. Despite early art influences, the mentioned German artists do not dominate his paintings. Instead, Richter and Baselitz contribute to his inspiration, along with contemporary music, poetry and European art history. Kehnet Nielsen's sources of inspiration also include a number of art historical masters, which Kehnet Nielsen borrows from and refers to in his painting.
