Alida Rabe (1825-70), educated in art in Stockholm. She continued her education in Düsseldorf in the beginning of the 1850s. In 1855-58 she studied in Paris for Ange Tissier and Ary Scheffer. She returned to Paris in 1863 and stayed for a longer time. In 1864 she was appointed agré at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Alida painted portraits and genre images as well as great mythological and historical compositions. In the exhibitions of the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm she participated with paintings from 1858-68, which won contemporary appreciation.
