FOLK ART
This season’s folk art theme is varied and includes first-rate furniture and objects from Skåne in the south to Jämtland in the north. The theme also encompasses, among other things, a highly unusual Dalecarlian wall painting by perhaps the best known painter in this particular genre Winter Carl Hansson. It is the earliest preserved painting by Winter Carl and is well documented by Svante Svärdström. In addition, the theme features several fine courting gifts from Hälsingland, with the most unusual being an amazing traditional tape loom from Forsa, painted by Jöns Månsson (“the Rose Painter”).
