The Lilavati and Bengt Häger Collection

THE LILAVATI AND BENGT HÄGER COLLECTION
The collection consists of works from India, China and Japan and reflects Lilavati and Bengt Häger’s areas of interest. Bengt Häger was one of Europe’s leading impresarios and worked throughout his life to promote dance. Bengt founded Dansmuseet (the Swedish Dance Museum) and the School of Dance and Circus (DOCH) in Stockholm, among other institutions. Lilavati Devi was prominent in Indian dance and came to Sweden with a dance troupe led by Ram Gopa. After many years of correspondence with Bengt, she stayed in Sweden and they married in 1954. The collection contains 100 lots, sold in two parts – one in this online auction and the other in the Important Spring Sale.
