IVAR MORSING
Ivar Morsing’s early paintings originated from the heritage of his teacher Grünewald. At the same time it was probably Rembrandt and Turner’s use of light and Bonnard’s use of colour that eventually had a defining impact on Ivar Morsing’s own painting. Morsing himself said of his painting: My pictures are based on a traditional style of painting and have a clear naturalistic background, but I dissolve the subject into a shimmering light and I add layers of colour until I have saturated the picture. Even if I insert figures, they don’t play a big role, but there must be something to create stories around – the subject is not important, it is more a vision of something.
