Alkuperä - Provenienssi

Gift from Estrid Ericson (1894-1981) to a close relative, likely in the late 1970s. Thence by descent to the present owner. Interior architect and designer Estrid Ericson, together with her mentor Nils Fougstedt, founded the company Svenskt Tenn in 1924. Initially, they designed innovative pewter items and soon engaged designers such as Björn Trägårdh, Uno Åhrén, Anna Petrus, and Tyra Lundgren. In 1927, the store moved to Strandvägen in Stockholm and expanded to include all aspects of home decor. The early furniture at Svenskt Tenn was primarily designed by Åhrén and Trägårdh, but this era came to an abrupt end when Estrid began her successful collaboration with Josef Frank in the early 1930s. Estrid Ericson held a unique position in design and interior decoration, drawing inspiration from her many trips abroad.

Muut tiedot

Sapphires have been a source of fascination throughout history. In the medieval period, they were believed to protect against poison, fever, and skin diseases. Among natural gemstone materials, sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness. It possesses a high lustre and is prized for its colour. The combination of iron and titanium causes the blue colour that is most commonly associated with sapphires, although they appear in several colours. Sapphire is the birthstone for September.
