Pär Siegård was born in 1887 and studied at the Ahltin School of Painting and Valand. He later travelled abroad on long study trips. Siegård left the country to travel in Europe and North Africa in 1911-1914. He returned in 1914 due to the outbreak of the First World War and settled in Hallandsåsen.
The painting in the auction depicts a scene from Greek mythology in which Paris, also known as Alexander or Alexandros, the Prince of Troy, who was supposed to be the cause of Troy's downfall. Paris was abducted on the orders of his father, the king, to be killed so that the prediction would come true. The shepherd who was supposed to kill him went against the order and did the opposite, adopting Paris and raising him as his own son.
The painting is expressionist; a similar work can be found in Norrköping Art Museum. The painting also bears similarities to the German expressionist group "Der Blaue Reiter". This group included Franz Marc, Kandinsky and others. Frans Marc, who was killed in the First World War, often had a blue horse in his motifs, which is also included in the auction's works.
