The edition of the white-glazed cabinets, limited to 20 pieces, was produced for an art association in Jönköping in the late 1980s. Sven Lund requested John Kandell to create the unique color scheme, and Källemo manufactured the cabinets.
The cabinet "Arkitektskåpet" was based on Rolf Åsard's scholarship, which was awarded by Sveriges Arkitekter to a newly graduated interior designer. The scholarship sum of SEK 20,000 came from a fund that was built up by designers and artists designing cabinets that were sold to the members of the Swedish Association of Architects. The first cabinet was designed by John Kandell, since then Jonas Bohlin, Mikael Löfström, Hertha Hillfon, Mats Theselius and Ernst Billgren have each designed a cabinet. The fund was later closed down and the distribution of scholarships ceased in 2009.
The cabinet in this auction is a limited edition of 20 copies and version of the original red cabinet which was made in 190 copies.
