Julia Beck, Portrait of Marie Louise Paris Marie Louise Paris's mother was Swedish and her surname was Lundqvist. She was the eldest of six children. Marie Louise pursued education in engineering. In 1925, she founded l'Institut électro-mécanique féminin, which in 1933 became l'École polytechnique féminine (now known as EPF School of Engineering). Mademoiselle Paris was also a pilot and designed an airplane that was exhibited at an aviation show in France in 1936. A statue of her is placed outside one of the buildings of the school she founded. In 2019, a train station in Grenoble was renamed in her honor.
