The first "Blomsterkrans" carpet was commissioned by king Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden for prince Eugen's guest room at Vadstena Abbey.
Judith Johansson has described the background of the pattern as follows: "With the colours from a bouquet of summer flowers, the carpet has been designed to complement one of professor Carl Malmsten's light coloured dining room sets."
