This exquisite platinum timepiece, the Urban Jürgensen Reference 2, represents a notable gem within a modest yet highly significant collection of Urban Jürgensen watches. What sets these watches apart is the painstaking hand-finishing of their dials, a craft meticulously executed by the late Derek Pratt.
These timepieces are part of an exclusive series of Urban Jürgensen wristwatches introduced during the early 1990s. What truly distinguishes them is their integration of a contemporary Frédéric Piguet movement, enriched by additional complications ingeniously developed by Pratt himself.
Despite its modest 38mm dimensions and slim profile, this watch stands as a paragon of understated elegance, emblematic of the modern era of Urban Jürgensen craftsmanship. Its design exudes subtlety, both in style and case size, and its rarity adds to its allure. In total, only 175 of these remarkable timepieces were ever crafted, with an estimated 122 of them encased in gold. The platinum iterations, such as the present Reference 2, are even scarcer, with only 50 of these precious exemplars known to exist.
