The spring catalogue contains everything from international contemporary art, prints, and photography to artworks by our most influential Swedish contemporary artists, like Ulla Wiggen, Mamma Andersson, Ola Billgren, Elisabeth Frieberg, Charlotte Gyllenhammar, Maria Friberg, and Andreas Eriksson. In the design category, the spring catalogue offers coveted collector’s items from Swedish designers like Jonas Bohlin, Mats Theselius, Fredrik Paulsen, and Gustaf Westman, as well as top international designers like Andrée Putman, Mario Bellini, Ettore Sottsass, and Piero Fornasetti.
Mamma Andersson is one of Sweden’s most famous artists, internationally recognized for her solo exhibition at Louisiana in Denmark in 2021. Mamma Andersson’s artistry is highly contemporary but merges several classic genres, like still life, landscape, and interiors. She works with image fragments and personal motifs from themes like family and nature, which are fused and creates new individual worlds. The spring catalogue contains no less than three paintings - ”Bättre famntag än av mor väntar dig när du blir stor” (1997), ”Runda Bordet” (2000) and ”Objekt” (2000). The latter, one of the auction highlights, constitutes an architectural dark image world with angular pools that stand in strong contrast to an intimate family scene in the foreground of the painting. The motif is framed by a cherry-blossom sprig – a Japanese symbol for life's impermanence and beauty.
Another interesting female artist in the spring catalogue is Ulla Wiggen, who took a break from her artistry after a promising career in the 1960s. After a recognized retrospective exhibition at Moderna Museet, Ulla Wiggren has returned in the later years with new artworks in significant Swedish and international collections. In the painting ”Sändare” from 1968, we are transported backward in time to Wiggen’s early years, a crucial period in her artistry and an exciting time in general in Swedish art history. Other highlights in the catalogue include artworks by Rolf Hanson, Dan Wolgers, Ola Billgren, Stephan Balkenhol, and Klara Lidén, as well as sculptures by Cecilia Edefalk, Klara Kristalova, and Eva Hild.
The photography department presents several iconic portraits by Anton Corbijn, Terry O’Neill, Mikael Jansson, Ruud van Empel, and Nan Goldin, as well as two self-portraits by the American artist Cindy Sherman, who, with her distinctive style over four decades, has explored identity and cultural codes. With a department in print motifs of high international quality, the catalogue also includes Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Indiana.
Design presents an eclectic department of contemporary Swedish designers, including Jonas Bohlin, Mats Theselius, Fredrik Paulsen, and Gustaf Westman, as well as internationally famous names like Andrée Putman, Ettore Sottsass, Michel Duroy, Mario Bellini, Hans J Wegner, Eero Saarinen, and Piero Lissoni. Jonas Bohlin stands for one of the auction’s highest estimates with his chair ”Concrete”, a rarity in Swedish furniture design and a contemporary design icon. From Mats Theselius, we find, among other things, several armchairs and cupboards as well as a sofa – all of them in his unmistakable style. Within the department, we also find two collections of Design objects from the Memphis group and Piero Fornasetti, who, with their iconic expressions, add color and playfulness to the department.
