A carpet, "Spise Hall", flat weave, ca 285 x 210 cm, signed JJ
Designed in 1961. "Spise Hall" was woven in a variety of sizes - the pattern was created to easily adept to the customers choice of size - that where not standard. All the variants are shaded in a escalating colour scale. In nature there is no such thing as a uniform colour, its always changing depending on light, shadow and density.
Partly worn, minor stains, bubbly. Some of the fringes are damages.
Compare with Andersson, Torsten: JJ Så vävdes ett livsverk, Göteborg 2006, page 80.
Judith Johansson has described the background to the pattern as follows: The color mood when May day turns to the "blue hour" at the time of the leaves splitting at the vantage point south of Knäred.
Carpet with the pattern has been exhibited i.a. in Stockholm at NK in 1972 and 1974, at Hallands Museum in 1985 and Forum Kulturcentrum Peine Tyskland in 1993.
