A famille rose double gourd vase, Qing dynasty, 19th Century.

Kangxis six character mark to base in underglaze blue. Flattened double-gourd shape with large handles to the sides. The flattened globular body is deocrated with peonies and chryssanthemum flowers. Gilded rim. Height 26 cm.

Fritting/loss of glaze. Firing flaws.

The form is recorded in a line drawing in Geng Baochang, Mingqing ciqi jiangding [Appraisal of Ming and Qing Porcelain], Hong Kong, 1993, p. 189, no. fig. 336, no. 3.
