Five pieces of fabric sewn together. An ivory melange ground with a polychrome decor of large stylized flowers as well as leaf and flower vines. A narrow border with a flower and leaf vine.
There are two related examples in Keshte (the Wolf Collection), numbers 10 and 18. Number 18 has a similar design to this lot in the auction, but is probably later. There are two other related pieces in the Victoria and Albert Museum: 81-1896, which has stripes similar to this, and CIRC. 871-1900, a niche which has similar botehs, etc.
Some wear, dirty, stains, repairs, minor damages. The sides and ends have minor damages.
The same private Swedish collection as the other two suzani embroideries at the auction.
Bukowskis thanks the expert Penny Oakley, London, for the help with attributing this suzani embroidery.
