Muut tiedot

This beautiful lady portrait can be traced in the same family since the early 19th century when the painting and the earrings, that the lady wears on the portrait (see catalog no. 1031), have followed each other through time. Her expensive dress in the silk and richly lavish jewelry reveal that she is a lady of birth, but unfortunately today we do not know who she was. It is probably a relative of the first owner we know; Maria Lovisa Fallén (1807-1865) married to Peter Julius Areschoug (1803-1862).
The artist Ulrica Fredrica Pasch was born in 1735 in Stockholm and initially studied painting with her brother Lorens Pasch the younger for her father Lorens Pasch the elder in his studio. Ulrica Fredrica became one of the first women to be elected as a member of the Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in 1773 and she had a successful career where she mainly painted portraits and was hired by members of the royal family and other people at the court.
