A silk robe, Qing dynasty, circa 1900.

Decorated with roundels with landscapes against a dark blute groud, this above waves and cranes. Yellow silk lining. Lenght back 115 cm. Width lying flat from arm to arm 126 cm. Width lying flat by lower hem 81 cm.

Wear, stains, loose threads.

Alkuperä - Provenienssi

Purchased by Astrid (born von Platen 1893-1982) and Nils Rudebeck (1877-1964) on their trip to China in 1926 with crown prince Gustav Adolf, later King Gustav VI Adolf. Thence by descent.

Nils Rudebeck was Marshal of the Court to to Gustaf Adolf and Astrid Rudebeck were a close friend to his wife Louis Mountbatten so they came to accompany the couple on their around the world trip where China was an important stop to the Swedish Crown Prince since his great interest in the Chinese Culture. He later on founded the famous "China Club" in Sweden in 1929. Astrid Rudebeck was the daughter of the great collector of Chinese antiques hovstallmästare Carl Gustaf von Platen.
