Olof Höglander is mentioned in the Swedish Royal accounts 1745-65 for delivering sculpted armchairs painted with yellow varnish.
The solution with loose back and seat came from France to facilitate the upholstery of the chair without having to do any damage to the chair carcass. In lavish circumstances, upholstery could be changed during the year, for warmer upholstery in the winter and cooler silk upholstery in the summer.
