Muut tiedot

The ceramic pieces are burned in an oven in the size of ten squaremeters with wood and coal, five to six times a year. The Kraitz's regard their work as practical research, a kind of work that is also appreciated in China, but according to Gustav Kraitz, this is a method that is no longer commonly used. It is considered to be unprofitable and requires great experience. The results of firing in an oven of this kind is always varied.

The collaboration consists of Ulla working with the shape of the simplified naturalistic sculptures and Gustav working architecturally and responsible for the burning of the common objeketen. A burning takes about 50 hours and after completion of burning it takes about 14 days before you can open the oven.

Ulla and Gustav Kraitz work have been exhibited in China at Capital Museum in Beijing and the couple has also received invitations from other museums with ceramics from the Song period. The material is unique in the way that it is frost-resistant and therefor resistant to be placed outdoor in all weathers. As each firing produces different results, each sculpture, whatever form, is completely unique. The auction's horse is the fourth horse of this kind executed and the first to be offered at auction.

With the sculpture comes a granite base, supplied after the auction.
