A famille rose 'European Subject' snuffbox with cover, Qing dynasty, Qianlong (1736-95).

Of round shape, heavy set with cover and gilded silver mountings. Decorated with men in market landscapes by a canal with ships, painted in iron oxide, gold and emamel coulors. Internally gilded and decorated with a landscape scene with buildings and riverscape with a ship to the interior of the cover. Diameter 7,1 cm, height 3,9 cm.

Cracks, wear to gilding.
